Gun Control Trade-Off: London Terrorism or St. Louis Riots?

A free, armed populace will occasionally result in the demise of innocents, accidental shootings and convenient excuses for bad people to do bad things.

Misunderstood malcontents (like St. Louis) may , from time to time, be killed, justly or unjustly, in a society where the people are allowed their God given right to keep and bear arms.

When everyone is strapped, you have to prepare for war in every situation.

The peacemakers have to do what is necessary to keep the peace, and there are bad apples among them, but faced with a free, gun toting public one must err on the side of violence. Every situation must be dealt with as a worst case scenario from the outset.

Sometimes that gets a man killed.

Many times it gets a cop killed.

Sometimes it leads to civil unrest, however, it is an unfortunate bi-product of freedom.

Across the pond, where the general public is largely unarmed (and so are the police) we find mankind at it’s worst. Evil maniacs finding ways to execute their evil agenda, usually without guns.

Bombs, knives, cars and yes, they still get their hands on guns, criminals always will.

    It begs the question.

    Who is safer?

An armed society that occasionally has to grieve a single tragic loss at the hands of aggressive law enforcement or an unarmed society left defenseless; at the mercy of psychopaths who feel free to move unchecked among the masses, striking, injuring and killing dozens (or hundreds) of targets at once?

    The math isn’t that hard.

It was rightly stated, “Give me Liberty or give me death” for, without one, the other is inevitable.

The Boston Police Have Confiscated Over 500 ‘Crime Guns’ in 2017

According to the Boston Globe, the Boston Police Department has confiscated more than 500 guns thusfar in 2017.

“I’ve seen my officers take thousands of guns off the streets of Boston during my time as Police Commissioner and I find it troubling that we keep seeing so many out there. Especially when they are in the hands of [teenagers],” Boston police Commissioner William Evans said in a statement Friday.

“These illegal firearms have no place in our communities or in the hands of teenagers,” Evans said. “I’m amazed at the work that’s being done by my officers but we need everyone to be involved to help keep our communities safe from gun violence.”

No one would argue that keeping illegal firearms out of the hands of prohibited possessors and teenagers is a noble cause and Boston will brag that it has seen a significant decrease in gun violence over the last few years, however, it should give any red-blooded American great pause when Al Jazeera praises your efforts.

Other’s say that the Boston PD’s crackdown on gun violence has created a shooters paradise.

Chicago has similar gun laws and has become the murder capital of America. I would say Boston is living on borrowed time.

As we descend further along the slippery slope of disarming America I am reminded of a quote.

“When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will own guns”

    My gun permit was issued nearly 2000 years ago when Jesus said;

Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

And reiterated again on December 15, 1791, in the Bill of Rights.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

California’s 10-day Waiting Period for Guns Appealed to Supreme Court

    By Chris Egar

Two California gun owners allied with Second Amendment groups are taking the challenge to the state’s mandatory waiting period to the nation’s high court.

The plaintiffs, Jeff Silvester and Brandon Combs, who feel the state’s 10-day waiting period for gun purchases is a violation of their rights, sent their long-running fight with the state’s attorney general to the Supreme Court last week.

Supported by the Calguns Foundation, of which Combs is the executive director, and Second Amendment Foundation, they argue the wait — if applied to those who already lawfully possessed a firearm registered in the state’s Automated Firearms System or had a concealed carry permit — is a violation of the Second Amendment.

“While this case is about waiting periods, it is also about something more,” said Alan M. Gottlieb, SAF founder, and executive vice president, in a statement. “It’s about challenging a gun regulation that is designed more to discourage exercise of the Second Amendment than it is about preventing crime.”

The men filed suit against the state in 2011, arguing that California’s waiting period and the 18 exemptions to it violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The state countered the elapsed time was a viable means of reducing suicides and murders.

In 2014, U.S. District Judge Anthony Ishii found in favor of the gun owners, saying: “There is no evidence that a ‘cooling off period,’ such as that provided by the 10-day waiting period, prevents impulsive acts of violence by individuals who already possess a firearm.”

Though Ishii ruled the already-standard practice of a federal background check was sufficient in most cases, largely abandoning the 10-day rule, California brought the matter to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals who last December reversed the lower court’s decision saying the waiting period was a “reasonable safety precaution for all purchasers of firearms,” even if they already had a gun or a permit.

With a request for a retrial denied earlier this year, the only avenue left for the plaintiffs is the Supreme Court.

Pointing out that most checks take less than an hour to complete, attorney Erik Jaffe in the filing noted that the “application of the full 10-day waiting period to firearms purchasers who pass their background checks and already possess another firearm or a CCW license involves no meaningful risk to public safety.”

California has had some form of waiting period statute for firearm sales since 1923. Initially, the law required a one-day wait for handguns, but lawmakers expanded it incrementally to three-, five- and later 15-days. Then, in 1991, to include all firearms. The only reform came in 1996 when, with the increased availability of electronic checks, it was reduced to the current 10-day mandate.

Now on its way to Washington, the odds of the challenge being heard by the court are slim.

Although the Supreme Court receives thousands of petitions each year, the number granted is few, typically 100 or less. Granting a petition requires the votes of four Justices, something the court has declined to do in several recent gun rights cases sent up from the Circuits.

An Open Letter to Donald Trump

    Dear Mr. Trump,

I, like many Americans, welcomed you into the foray of this years political race. We were fair, we were open-minded, we were even excited for your campaign, although , truth be told, we probably all had our concerns.

Seventeen candidates took the stage in the early debates. Nearly every conceivable demographic was represented. The party that had long been demonized by the Liberal Media as rich, white racists had changed. The GOP was the party of diversity. We seemed to be breaking the stereotypes!

The Liberal media attacked you immediately, calling you a narcissistic clown, a joke, a bankrupted billionaire that feasted on the weak, an orange spray-painted buffoon  and we took up for you. We defended you. We brought you into our homes and some even brought you into their hearts. We were, after-all, on the same side , right? Divisions between the GOP Establishment and the “outsiders” was, and is, a real thing, but in the end we were all out to stop the Liberal Progressives from sending us off a Constitutional cliff from which we may never recover.

The Twitterverse and the Blogosphere were alight with Conservatives from all campaigns lighting up the Liberals. Oh we were a force to be reckoned with!

Then you went into attack mode. You started systematically eliminating those whom you deemed as “weak”, not based on your ability to articulate your positions, but upon your willingness to say the most outrageous thing that came to mind. You speak to the American people using words of a third grade level (the lowest of any Candidate.) When questioned about the outrageous thing you just said, you would double down, and double down again leaving the entire media a buzz with the nonsense coming from your mouth. You even changed your stance 3 times in the span of 5 minutes on National TV and your supporters ignored it!

Those of us that had been fighting the Liberal agenda for years, decades, our entire lives found those new to the game completely irrational, in some cases completely blind to your faults. It was astounding!

Obama divided the nation, then you divided the only force that could stop him. Conservatism.

One by one your opponents fell.

    “What will Trump say next!?”

“What will he do next!?”  The media guessed.

How many insults will he sling at the studied, principled conservatives; the brothers in arms that have stood side-by-side on the Senate floor and in the States that the people of America elected them to Govern,  doing their best to fight a delusional would-be Dictator bent on the destruction of our nation with his “Hope and Change.” Fighting an uphill battle within a system that was broken, a corrupt system, a system that you know all too well. Reportedly you have been contributing to and reaping the benefits of that corrupt system for 40 years. You claim you owe nothing to lobbyists, but based on your perceived actions you are a lobbyist! By your own admission, you have traded money for political influence in order to grow your brand your whole life. That’s what lobbyists do.

Your long-time friend Roger Stone first approached you about running for President in 1987, according to sources. You registered as a Republican. He approached you again in 2000. You considered it in 2008, and finally did run in 2015. As a Republican. 8 months ago you were still a Liberal in actions. Have you suddenly had a change of heart? Have you had a change of heart without ever asking God for forgiveness? I think not.

The list of Liberal Progressives that you have donated to, the mafioso’s you have done business with, the affairs , the scandals, the pornography, the Playboy covers, the bankruptcies, the scams, the con-games and the “playing to peoples fantasies” are your legacy Donald, not your name, not your company. It is all dung Sir. No man can serve God and Mammon (Money.)

Your former advisor Mr. Stone, not surprisingly, seems to be behind your latest con-job, your deplorable gas-lighting of Senator Ted Cruz.  In my minds-eye I imagine you grinning like  a Cheshire cat as you lay the trap. Enraptured in the ecstasy of your own narcissism.

Yet behind your eyes is fear, oh yes, there is insecurity. The man whom you’ve opted to smear, is the same man with whom you refuse to debate one on one – Ted Cruz. It was far easier for you to fill 1/17th of a 3 hour program with your “policies” than it would be 1/2 of those same 3 hours. Senator Cruz could talk for an hour and a half on the subtle nuances of toenail clipping without stopping for a drink! It’s no wonder you fear him, you should. He is the type of man who exposes, and deposes men like you.

You see Mr. Trump, I know you. We, the American people, know you. We’ve seen your behavior before in the drunken father, the abusive stepfather, the bully, the batterer, the manipulator, the mental and physical abuser. Your mannerisms are that of a brute. We’ve  looked into eyes like yours before Sir, and those who remember those eyes would do well to tell others!

By all accounts you have been proven to be a  liar and a deceiver.

However, you have done something far more dangerous than just lie to the American people. Your pandering has given them hope, a false hope. The troubled teen from the 1960’s who went off to fight in Vietnam only to be spit on by the Socialists back home upon their return. He sees a glimmer of hope in your words. A glimmer of hope that you actually care about him, but you don’t, or at least you didn’t. You legally dodged the draft that scarred them for life, repeatedly.

You were the “fortunate son” about whom Credence Clearwater Revival sung:

It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no millionaire’s son, no, no
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no fortunate one, no

Those veterans now battle addictions that have gripped them for the last 50 years, the PTSD that still cripples them and the poverty that consumes many of them. In my opinion your rhetoric has filled their heads with visions of sugarplums. You’ve taken advantage of their weakness and for that  Almighty God is fitting a millstone to hang around your neck.

Your proposed tariffs are a recipe for disaster, the last time such lunacy was employed it led to the great depression, a nightmare those aforementioned Vietnam Veterans parents lived through.  The Chinese Government owns 1.25 Trillion Dollars in US debt , if you push them, they will simply foreclose. You are a Real Estate mogul, surely you know that.

How will you make 12 million people leave the country Sir? Most Americans are not for Amnesty, and neither am I, but what is the p-l-a-n?

What will the businesses do when 75% of their workforce is gone on Monday morning? Hire new people?

What do they do when you let the ones you forcefully deported return? Fire the American citizens that they hired to replace them?

Do we then have 12 million homeless, unemployed immigrants running around?

Touchback Amnesty is your actual position, yet all your followers hear is “Build the wall!” & “Deport the Mexicans!”

You have proposed to make peace between terrorists (Palestine) and the terrorized (Israel), yet you pretend to be tough on terror. Don’t you realize the ideologies of Palestine and ISIS are the same? The little Satan and the great Satan must both be destroyed according to their radical teachings. It is a spiritual divide. It is a  4000 year old feud that will not be resolved until Christ’s return, but you think you can “make the deal”.

One by one your policies fail under scrutiny, yet they tickle the ears of the uninformed, those drunk on the wine of your bravado; those medicated to cope with the scars of war; the elderly struggling to make it through each day and the young person hoping against hope that you will “Make America Great Again!” Substance, however, eludes you. Admittedly, you are your own advisor and you are currently fresh out of actual ideas.

My America, our America, is still great Donald J. Trump. We have nearly gone over the edge, but we are not dead yet. Our brave men and women in uniform have fought to keep us free and our first-responders are in the trenches daily battling the racial divide perpetuated by people whom you have called friend. The blood of our Founders still flows in our veins, we will resist, we will rise up, we will battle back, and we will do it in spite of people like you, not because of you.

Your goons manhandle women at your rallies, and deny it, even when caught on film.

Your advisors allegedly “leak” utter fabrications to trash media publications (also run by your goons) then feign innocence.

You repeatedly lie, lie, and lie some more, and then accuse your opponents of lying!

Saul Alinsky 101: Accuse your opponent of what only you are doing, as you are doing it, to create confusion.

I can envision you dictating these actions from afar, trusting only your sons and a few very close advisors, much like a third world dictator would. As I said before Donald Trump, we know your kind . We’ve seen faces like yours before my friend, throughout history. Hitler, Mussolini, Castro, Hussein, and Stalin had similar traits. Each rose to fill a need in a populace that was hurting and then turned them into slaves for their own gain.

It is my opinion that you are the laughable Bozo that became the devilish Pennywise before our very eyes and millions of Americans believe that they want you, ie; “It” to be their Commander – in – Chief.

I hate to say it, but it seems as if the Liberals were right. Maybe you are a narcissistic clown, a joke, a bankrupted billionaire that feasts on the weak, an orange spray-painted buffoon , but we took up for you. We defended you. We took you into our homes and our hearts.

    God forgive us.

    What have we done?

I applaud this very heartfelt and well written article ,but would add one thought. The ILLEGAL ALIENS THAT HAVE TRESPASSED ON OUR SOIL AND STOLEN OUR JOBS, do need to be rounded up and sent back to where ever they came from and replaced in those jobs by AMERICAN CITIZENS AND LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Thank you for sharing this and God Bless you.

Illegals don’t have our jobs. Speaking from an HR perspective the government has blocked corporations from hiring them. How convoluted it is and the simpleton that wrote this article. Illegals are being paid government subsidies and are also being blocked from working. Was it the RNP that pays for this article? I will continue to support Trump for all the same reasons I have always supported him. Dissect the artical above, he is who he says he is. He is not bought and paid for. One last thought, I fully support immigration I have many immigrants working for me; help people with good intentions get here.

I have spent 20 years as an employer in the State of Arizona. You speak from a standpoint of ignorance. Most restaurant kitchens, landscaping companies, construction crews, etc. in the SW are 50% +Hispanic labor, many are 100%. Termination, re-hiring, and re- training costs money. The cost of which will be placed on the backs of the already over-burdened employers struggling to survive as it is with the ACA mandates.

As stated, I am not for amnesty.

          Let me be clear.

They need to go home, re-apply legally, and wait their turn. Period.

My critique of Mr. Trumps policy was the fact that he has no policy. Who pays to send them home? Who enforces it? Do they get to come back? When? How? Who pays for it?

          These questions matter.

Ask him where the veterans money he took at his fundraiser. Ask him why he kicks veterans out from the front of Trump tower. Ask why he demeans women and then acts like it’s warranted, Ask why he’s defrauded and sued normal citizens to the point of financial hardship. I haven’t even started. He will utterly destroy us.

Because you’re able to pay them minimum wage, where an American applicant wouldn’t take the peanuts you pay. You sound like Trump. It costs too much to employ American workers. He hires immigrants…mainly eastern European immigrants. He beats them on full pay, too. They can’t complain.

Trump intends touch back amnesty – send home those here illegally and then bring “the good ones” (those without a criminal record) back to the US and put them at the head of the line. This won’t help with jobs, as the author pointed out. Most of those supporting Trump don’t realize this – they just want him to build a wall. If this wall has a gate to let back in 10+ million, it won’t help as we try to improve the American economy.

Why do you people keep saying the illegal aliens are “stealing” jobs, like they are taking the jobs by force ? They are being hired by American companies! If they couldn’t find jobs here, they simply wouldn’t come. The people you have to condemn are the ones who hire them, the AMERICANS who hire them!

I have owned businesses in Calif for over 50 years. We were required to file who we hired and if they were legal, but it didn’t help. The illegals would get phoney ID’s and figure out ways around the system. The biggest problem is our welfare system. People won’t work for even $15 an hour, when they can “earn” over $22 an hour with all the benefits that they get. It’s time we got a president to attack this problem. Force the American people to get jobs and loose the benefits. We don’t have to deport the illegals, they will leave on their own, when they can’t get all the freebies.

He has stated that they get to come back. Touch-back amnesty is not what you just said you wanted, but it is what he says he’s going to do. Trump has said nothing about cutting out any welfare programs, for illegals or otherwise.

Your wrong. The Companies who hire them are only doing so because they offer these jobs to American workers and they refuse to work. take field workers(there isn’t hardly 1 American who would spend 12 to 18 hours a day in fields picking oranges). Drywall workers receive decent pay, yet companies cannot find American workers who will do this work , so today you find most drywall installers are now Mexican. They do not take work from Americans, they take what Americans feel too good for or above that kind of work.

In defense of Donald Trump : Try to keep this in mind, Donald Trump did not steal your money. Donald Trump did not raise your taxes. Donald Trump did not quadruple the price of food. Trump is not stirring a race war. Trump did not leave any US soldiers in Benghazzi to be slaughtered and desecrated by Muslims. Trump did not send the US Navy to fight for Syrian Al-Qaeda. Trump did not arm ISIS and systematically exterminate Christians throughout the Middle East. Trump did not betray Israel. Trump did not provide financing and technology to Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Trump did not give our military secrets to China. Trump did not remove our nuclear missile shield in Poland at the behest of Russia. Trump did not shrivel our military, and betray our veterans. Trump did not cripple our economy. Trump did not increase our debt to 20 trillion dollars. Trump did not ruin our credit, twice. Trump did not double African American unemployment. Trump did not increase welfare to a record level for eight years. Trump did not sign a law making it legal to execute, and imprison Americans. Trump did not set free all of terrorists in Guantanamo bay. Trump did not steal your rights, violate US Constitutional law, or commit treason, hundreds of times.

Yet Trump is being ripped apart in the news, non stop.

He has never had a position of real power – which is why he can’t be accused of any of things you list as Democratic ‘sins’. Curious how many American citizens and legal immigrants are willing to pick onions in a field 8 hours a day in 118 degree heat for $2 an hour. Do you know any? How about washing dishes in Mexican restaurants for $4 an hour? Are you willing to pay $10 a pound for produce picked by American citizens and legal immigrants at $15 an hour? And are you aware that more people have been deported under President Obama than at any time in history? And that net immigration is currently at ZERO PERCENT? And that rounding all these people up and shipping them back where they came from would cost BILLIONS OF DOLLARS and be logistically impossible? How about instead, we fix the immigration system as President Obama suggests so that they can be legitimized, start working legally, and paying taxes? Wouldn’t that make more sense? Please think things through. Thanks.

The funny thing about laws is that there are almost always exceptions. Godwin’s Law does not take into account or make provision for the time when use of “Nazi” is warranted. If Godwin’s Law is absolute, how are we to draw conclusions when confronted with behavior that parallels historical fact? A strict adherence to this “law” would mean turning a blind eye when history is primed to repeat itself. The “law” implies the absence of truth; this case defies that criterion.

Want an explanation on why people are supporting Donald Trump, even though he is often a jerk? Here’s a GREAT explanation:
You’ve been on vacation for two weeks, you come home, and your basement is infested with raccoons. Hundreds of rabid, messy, mean raccoons have overtaken your basement. You want them gone immediately… You call the city, 4 different exterminators but nobody could handle the job.
But there is this one guy and he guarantees you to get rid of them, so you hire him. You don’t care if the guy smells, you don’t care if the guy swears, you don’t care if he’s an alcoholic, you don’t care how many times he’s been married, you don’t care if he voted for Obama, you don’t care if he has plumber’s crack…you simply want those raccoons gone! You want your problem fixed! He’s the guy. He’s the best. Period.
Here’s why we want Trump, yes he’s a bit of an ass, yes he’s an egomaniac, but we don’t care.
The country is a mess because politicians suck, the Republican Party is two-faced & gutless, and illegals are everywhere. We want it all fixed! We don’t care that Trump is crude, we don’t care that he insults people, we don’t care that he had been friendly with Hillary, we don’t care that he has changed positions, we don’t care that he’s been married 3 times, we don’t care that he fights with Megan Kelly and Rosie O’Donnell, we don’t care that he doesn’t know the name of some Muslin terrorist.
This country is weak, bankrupt, our enemies are making fun of us, we are being invaded by illegal’s, we are becoming a nation of victims where every Tom, Ricardo and Hasid is a special group with special rights to a point where we don’t even recognize the country we were born and raised in; “AND WE JUST WANT IT FIXED” and Trump is the only guy who seems to understand what the people want.
We’re sick of politicians, sick of the Democratic Party, Republican Party, and sick of illegals. We just want this thing fixed. Trump may not be a saint, but doesn’t have lobbyist money holding him, he doesn’t have political correctness restraining him, all you know is that he has been very successful, a good negotiator, he has built a lot of things, and he’s also not a politician, he’s not a cowardly politician. And he says he’ll fix it. And we believe him because he is too much of an egotist to be proven wrong or looked at and called a liar.
Also we don’t care if the guy has bad hair. We just want those raccoons gone. Out of your house.
      NOW.

        David,

The solution is easy. You say that you and other Trump supporters dislike either party. Well then, start your own and leave the GOP.

Race directly against Republicans and Democratics with your raccoon rhetoric and let’s see how far you get. This way YOU and YOUR party can fix it. Call yourself TRUMPICANS or TRUMPOCRATS.

America IS a great nation. It never stopped being a great nation. And…It always will be. The only reason why we are being laughed at is because Donald Trump is making a mockery of our election process.

Form your own party and leave those of us who are serious about the election alone.

        Thank you.

David agree with what you see is wrong here. Very good recap. Problem with your analogy is that this rat killer gets to get rid of the rats without any need to follow rules. Rules like the constitution requires. Trump will certainly bend the rules some, but he won’t be able to be a dictator. He will not submit or get the SCOTUS constitutional judges we must have. After 4 years of Trump the court will be stacked against conservatives for generations. Please reconsider your support for Trump. Unfortunately, just too many conservative leaders in politics, MSM and conservative radio feel as you do. That is not helping. Many Fox News hosts are under the Trump spell and not helping preserve conservatism anymore. This is so dangerous. They are not standing by their natural principals anymore.

        Please reconsider.

I certainly don’t want those pesky little raccoons either, but I’m not going to risk Bubba stealing my money, doing harm to my family, or burning down my house – just because HE says he can get the job done! Trump telegraphs on a daily basis what he plans to do, and how he plans to do it. If you’ve failed to brush up on your history, now is a good time to do so. As an observer of politics for nearly forty years, I can tell you one thing! Donald J. Trump will never sit in the White House! Never! So – throw your vote away, and let the pesky little critters destroy your house anyway. Sounds like a great plan to me!

The problem, David, is that the way that one guy rids your basement of raccoons is by flooding it. Sure, the raccoons are gone, but now you have a basement full of water. And now your problem.is actually worse than before. And that guy? “You wanted me to get rid of the raccoons, and that’s what I did. Now pay up, or I’ll have my friends come convince you to pay. And you won’t like my friends. They’re not nice like me.”

The analogy you make, David, is, with all due respect, weak. I like the guy who rids my home of rats because he does his job. True, I don’t have to respect him. But he is not making major decisions about my every day life, about my overall welfare, my finances, my health care, how much I spend in taxes. Hiring someone with low moral character to hold the most respected position in the land for four years is simply not analogous to an exterminator who solves a problem and leaves. I frankly do care whether or not the President swears or has dealt in corruptible industries because my children are watching. The fact that you don’t or you don’t think people care is crass carelessness and irresponsible voting in and of itself. I suggest if you’re troubling yourself to read a Christian blog, you should trouble yourself to read the Bible a little more and understand that the exterminator may do well to get rid of vermin, but has the power to dispense with you.

David that is all very interesting and I see your point but I guess it just comes back to fundamentals. Call me old fashioned but I only do business with people I have vetted properly and therefore have at least a reasonable chance I can trust their word. This is the first building block and it is called research.
When I am going to hire someone to do a job certain things do matter such as a history of having done it successfully before. I ask for reasonable verifiable references and then make my choice.
Using your exterminator analogy Trump has been selective breeding and feeding the racoons for decades prior to a few moths ago when he suddenly said he would now exterminate them. He has no history of exterminating racoons and his past experience that is not specific to this job is meaningless. Not to mention his reutation in the industries he has had experience in have mostly all filed for banruptsy which does not provide confidence in his ability.
This brings into question that he will perform the extermination at all or simply feed racoons and then lie to you about the process while increasing their number. After all by the time you figure out you have been deceived he has your money already.
The greatest likelyhood is that he will not exterminate the racoons at all but to fix the problem have you thrown out of your home. More in line with the history of people such as him have you thrown into jail then you will not care about the racoons any longer; problem solved.
The bottom line is trust and Trump does nothing to ecourage trust in any reasonable thinking American. Those who choose to let other people do their thinking will have the greatest surprise and therefore be the ones to watch their families imprisioned, raped, murdered or all of them. Enjoy.

David Owens, Yes we understand your anger…we’re angry too. We want the raccoons gone too. But we don’t put our trust in anyone because we’ve been fooled and lied to so often. Reagan said, “Trust, but verify.” I am like the author; I welcomed Trump to the campaign, stood up for him when he was unfairly attacked by liberals; and evaluated him as I do every candidate. That’s where the raccoon analogy ends for me. I’m not going to hire a guy just because he says he’s going to do it. I want to know how he’s going to do it. I want to know what the Better Business Bureau has on file about him. I want to hear from past clients, because I require evidence that he’s the real deal. You say, “Trump may not be a saint, but doesn’t have lobbyist money holding him, he doesn’t have political correctness restraining him, all you know is that he has been very successful, a good negotiator, he has built a lot of things, and he’s also not a politician, he’s not a cowardly politician. And he says he’ll fix it.”

Let’s go through them one at a time: No, he doesn’t have lobbyist money holding him. He’s the lobbyist, he’s the other side of the equation. He’s the corrupt lobbyist paying for favors. And we’re supposed to give him a pass because he’s a businessman, right? Ridiculous. All lobbyists are business people trying to curry favor for their cause or industry. That’s where corruption begins and ends, with the lobbyists.
Next, he’s not politically correct. There’s a big difference between politically incorrect and just plain rude, crude, and offensive. Conservatives are generally politically incorrect. Yes, Congressional and Senatorial Republicans have, in many cases, succumbed to the PC liberals and let us down. But let’s be careful not to “throw the baby out with the bath water!”

You say he’s been very successful and a good negotiator. And if I don’t believe you I should just ask him, right? He tells people he’s very successful and a good negotiator. When you take a closer look (remember, Trust, but verify,) you’ll find he’s not been altogether truthful. Based on his inheritance, if he would have invested it all in the S&P 500 and retired to a beach chair, he’d be much wealthier today. The four bankruptcies were not personal, they were business, his business, where he’s supposedly so successful. He was successful in keeping his personal wealth, while simultaneously decimating the fortunes of his investors, and worse, destroying many small businesses that had been contracted to do the work – the little people, the mom & pop companies. Thousands lost jobs, companies went under, and lives were ruined. His business wreaked havoc on those people, and he used his team of lawyers to get away clean. He’s no better than Bernie Madoff. He works deals to benefit himself, and doesn’t give a rip about the collateral damage.

He’s built a lot of things. Not as many as it appears at first glance. He leases his name to hotels and businesses, but is legally protected from liability. He didn’t build them. He just let them use his name. A sham. He’s built many companies that failed – Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Trump Mortgage, to name a few. Trump University was a fraud, contrary to what he says. The fraud case has not been dismissed as he said, and his reasoning is because it was a “Hispanic” judge. It’s always someone else’s fault, but the people who brought the lawsuit, again the little people, tell a very different story.
Heretofore he has not been a politician, but he’s every bit the “establishment” guy. He’s been active in their circles and buying his favors for years. Again, this is the very thing of which we’re trying to rid ourselves.

There have been a handful of politicians that were able to resist the muck and mire of Washington DC, and stand for the little people exactly as they said they would. They should be applauded. Those who’ve betrayed their constituents need to be voted out and replaced. People need to keep track and remember who it was that screwed us over. Only one candidate among all of those running, did what he was sent to do. I’m not naive, I don’t think he’s perfect. He doesn’t think he’s perfect. But he has been able to resist the corruption, and the traitors who have betrayed their constituents sure do hate him for raining on their parade. There are all kinds of conspiracy theories and lies being tossed around about him, but he has not retaliated. The accusations of the Carson campaign regarding Iowa, were the fault of the Carson campaign. His campaign did what other campaigns did, but he was targeted because he won. The SuperPAC that put out the Melania ad is not affiliated with him. He has SuperPACs, but the ad came from an Independent Anti-Trump SuperPAC. He got loans for his campaigns and paid them back, just as you would a mortgage. Trump says he’s self funding, but even that is a distortion. He took loans and is lending his campaign the money from the loans. It’s semantics. Trump is a marketing genius. Good for him. I know good marketing, and I know not to be duped by it. I understand that not everyone has time or interest to go through this muck. That’s why I’m passing it on. I can only hope you are open to the possibility that you are being manipulated. My experience is that, sadly, it generally falls on deaf ears.
There is so much more. His trade policies are almost identical to the ones that led directly to the Great Depression. I’m begging you, do your homework. If he gets rid of your raccoons by filling your basement with concrete, what have you accomplished?

Trump is running the dirtiest Republican campaign of my lifetime. I’ve been a political junkie since Reagan. I’ve seen the Democrats pull these types of stunts on Republicans. I’ve never in my life seen Republicans do it to fellow Republicans to this extent. It is a complete repudiation of Reagan’s 11th Commandment, and an abhorrent display of embarrassing behavior. Truth is fair game, but to employ a scorched earth smear campaign against a fellow Republican should not be tolerated. It proves to me, without a doubt, that he is still a liberal and has no principles or values whatsoever. With friends like him, who needs enemies?

Cruz is in the process of losing, not winning the nomination. Those who trash Trump only insure a Clinton victory. Sure Trump isn’t the perfect candidate… Far from it… By continually bashing Trump you only make it harder for our nominee to defeat the biggest disaster since Obama… Except this disaster(Hillary) will have placed 3 liberals to the scotus … Then she can create any of a number of executive orders of her choosing… Require guns be dismantled until reaching a legal firing zone? Sure, why not? Convert Obamacare and other insurers to a single payer system on Medicare… Why not if she has the scotus vote? So to continue to divide the republican vote is to put Hillary into office.

It’s so completely naive for folks like you to assume others don’t see Trump for what he is… You think you have some great wisdom or insight the rest do not? That’s pure rubbish.

So continue your bashing, continue splitting the party on the most likely R candidate so that a Hillary victory is a lock. It’s people much like you who wouldn’t vote for Romney who have the election to Obama. How’s that worked out?

I assume that since you are reading this story from a Christian site you are Christian. If Trump is the nominee we are being given a choice between an evil madman and an equally evil criminal. Picking the lesser of two evils is still willingly picking evil so I will follow Christian doctrine and not vote for evil no matter the outcome once again. God will have to choose for me and I will accept his choice as that is what it means to be of faith. Choose Barabbas if you must and we will all watch our nation as it hangs on the proverbial cross as a result as it dies slowly. God has provided you a Godly alternative and will likely not save us this time should he be rejected. Think of your children and grandchildren as you then watch Trump or Hillary use the symbolic spear of destiny to show no mercy and end our beloved Republic forever.

He’s not a politician, that’s all they hear.
They seem to lose track of the fact that he IS a lobbyist, which is why he isn’t in the pocket of any.

Just as much misinformation here as is in the media regarding Trump. In fact, a lot of media distortions repeated here. One thing missing, TRUMP IS A PATRIOT & is only running to help America. He doesn’t have to run or put himself through media hatch jobs.

We were sold all sorts of republicans as good conservatives who had our back only to throw us under the bus. Cruz is yet another being propped up like the little darling Paul Ryan and for the Saint he is painted as, he sure doles out enough lies that I want to throw things at the tv. He disgusts me even more because he paints himself as a true conservative and can’t even get stories straight. Listen objectively to him, if he can’t be trusted being honest about his opponents positions,he is just as much a deceiver and not to be trusted with he big stuff. No more will I vote for the ones they tell me to. We get burned every time.

We need more MAJOR parties, not just 2 or 3 for we all have more to us than just D or R.

Gods ways are not ours. I believe His hand is on this election. I do my own research about trump and the others. Trump has done amazing things “in secret” like the bible says that surprisingly Christian conservatives ignore. That’s ok, media is powerful in painting bad character while ignoring good. God sees all and you have to wonder why HE is giving us Trump this time ( or is Sagan up to his tricks)…ONLY GOD knows.

There is nothing new under the sun about attacks on someone who is good at heart. We all know how they treated Jesus…even professed religious leaders of the day condemned him much like the author of this article condemned Trump in the end using the very kind of blather he condemns. Jesus did his share of name calling to call out bad character – so we all do that folks…we need to look deeper. Trump is a servant, more so than many of the rich we hear about. He is non traditional in all aspects and I for one, am willing to give him a chance.

Trump inspires with truth about issues & inspires us with endurance in the world of political sleaze. You may think the newest conservative ” darling” is above the fray, but really listen, he’s no better, but worse because he claims to be better than that.

God bless Mr. Trump & THANKYOU Lord for lighting a fire in our hearts no matter what side we are on.

From your comment I can tell your heart is in the right place. Have you bothered to research how much the Establishment hates Ted Cruz? They aren’t propping him up, they are using him to stop Trump by “endorsing” him! They want neither. Jeb was, and probably still is their man. Donald Trump by his own admission has NEVER asked God for forgiveness rendering every good work useless. Deeds alone are not enough.

A man who has never known your Savior and a man whom your Savior has never known is the man whom you will choose o lead you?

Matthew 7:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV)

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

God has lit a fire in us, because this election is the most important in our lifetimes, maybe in our History.

An unrepentant adulterer who has made billions peddling pornography and gambling is not some “secret weapon” of God. The man of God (with clear faults) that God has placed firmly before you, in broad daylight, for all to see, is the choice He expects you to make.

        That is very clear.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in your Brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thy own eye? Matthew 7:3 I too believe that God’s hand is in this election and though we may choose a popular candidate, whomever God has predestined for this position will have it. We must not judge others lest we be judged. Vote your conviction and then allow his will to be done. My conviction tells me to vote for Donald J. Trump.

First this scripture refers to judgement within the church, hence the word “Brother”. Donald Trump by his own admission has never asked for forgiveness from God.

Second I have spent a lifetime considering the beam in my own eye, and can now see clearly to help said “Brothers”.

        Third:
        Matthew 7:16

“You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?”

God gives us discernment so that we will be leary and watchful for false prophets, teachers and the like.

You are right God does set-up and tear down Rulers, but Donald trump winning is a sign of the decline of our society, not a sign of Gods grace.

If he wins perhaps his destructive Presidency will finally move America towards revival, it is certain that nothing he says will. By his own admission, he doesn’t know your Savior Jesus Christ.

There are many valid points throughout this forum. I will leave you with this, my humble opinion. I agree that his rhetoric could use improvement and I do not find him to be in any way perfect. In fact, his is not at all the sort of public persona that most are accustomed to. Although I too feel that one must be forgiven, he has said that in lieu of asking for forgiveness, he has endeavored to not repeat his offenses. He recognizes publicly that the Christian faith is under siege worldwide and has vowed to champion it. These things among others indicate to me that he is indeed seeking God and no matter the election outcome, we should keep him in our prayers. He has a coarseness that to me exudes confidence. His fortitude denotes character. Although some would have you believe that he takes pleasure in abusing people, he has time and again been more than generous to those who were suffering and in need. He has comforted the sick, supported our servicemen and women and inspired many to be the best that they can be. These things, among others, speak to his compassion. His mistakes whether great or small, current or past, serve to prove that he is human and not unlike you or I. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone. God bless us all.

With all due respect, I have to disagree on many points made in this article. First, Trump is not a trained coached politician and yes he does blow it sometimes. For example, when Chris Matthews ask him about “if abortion was illegal should women be punished?”, Trump blew it big time. Yes, I know, I’m agreeing with you so far.

The media took the “should women be punished for abortion” and ran with it leaving out the “if it were illegal”. Trump let them bait him but watch him argue with Chris before he finally says yes. That’s because it was a stupid question but Trump was right when he said yes. If it were illegal someone must be punished, that’s how the law works. He should’ve said “We’ll let the judges and prosecutors deal with that, it’s not the president’s job”. Cruz talks so slow you can hear the gears turning and he wouldn’t have fell for it.

Cruz is a smooth talker, a trained coached politician, just like Rubio repeating the same thing over and over when he got stuck on what to say. I’ll get back to Trump in a minute, but when Trump said Bush lied to get us into the Iraq war he was right. Cruz sided with Jeb backing up his brother and said Jeb misspoke when he agreed the Iraq war was a just war. Jeb claimed he misunderstood the question and Cruz said I’ll take him at his word. Do you know why Cruz takes his word for it???

Cruz is a bush man and I find so many of his supporters that call me an outright liar when I tell them that. Just how much research have these people done on Cruz? Cruz worked for Bush, and Hedi worked for Condi Rice.

In August 2004, just in time for the Republican National Convention, Cruz contributed to a long-forgotten but fascinating historical document—a book-length brief for Bush’s reelection called Thank You, President Bush: Reflections on the War on Terror, Defense of the Family, and Revival of the Economy.

It featured a variety of conservative luminaries singing Bush’s praises. “It was an assessment at halftime,” Martin recently told me, “and a belief that a second term would be a confirmation of the foundation laid during the first term.”
As such, the book presented authors like Dick Cheney on the Bush Doctrine, John Ashcroft on the Patriot Act, Arthur Laffer on the Bush tax cuts, and so on. This is available on Amazon.

Heidi was also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and agreed with the plan for building the North American Union which called for almost complete elimination of US border controls by 2010, both the north and the south borders. It is available on the CFR website and is called Building a North American Community. Googling that will lead you straight to it. Check those, don’t just assume I’m wrong, we’ve gotta stay on the same page here. Download the PDF at the CFR site and read it. The link is on the left once you get to the page, hit Download Now. If you search it for 2010 you’ll find the part I quoted and you can search for Heidi and it’ll take you right to where she agrees with it and makes further suggestions. It’s under Dissenting Remarks, but she doesn’t dissent at all.

Back to Trump. Trump blew it again when he re-tweeted the photo of Heidi and he’s has said he regrets it. I’m sure he does because it led right to Cruz’s response when confronted by the National Enquirer article. Let me remind you how many times they’ve been right. Tiger Woods, John Edwards, Jesse Jackson etc etc etc etc. Many times. I don’t think they’d publish it without proof and I think we can expect more. We don’t even have to assume it’s true though.

Cruz said it’s garbage, it was Trump attacking Hedi. No, it’s not an attack on Hedi, that is a professional politicians deflection! Cruz went on, my wife and kids are off limits. Wait a minute. Trump defended Cruz and his kids when the WP published the cartoon with Cruz as the organ grinder and his kids as monkeys. Now it’s Trump drags the conversation into the gutter, but it was the media who ask him “has anyone you’ve ever been with had an abortion”?

Yep, they ask him that, only he’s smartened up. He said that’s an interesting question, what’s your next question and sure enough the headline reads, Trump refuses to answer abortion question. People who get their news from the headlines think they know what it’s about because they keep publishing the half truth illegal abortion question.

If you want to ask Cruz some fair questions, ask him how he’s going to beat Hillary without attacking a woman? Ask him how come his PAC gave Carly $500,000?? It was about the same time the affair story started in the Rubio camp. And before I get back on Trump, ask yourself why Cruz bashes Trump for no political experience but doesn’t tout his and Heidi’s Bush years or her CFR years as a plus?

He’s also packed his team with CFR big shots since he called them a den of vipers!!! If you do honest research on Ted, there is plenty to indicate it’ll be the same old establishment administration if he wins, directed by the Bush family. But if it comes to a contested convention, they won’t pick Cruz, it’ll be Ryan, they’re using him and he knows it. There’s been a deal made to stop Trump. Cruz is to split the “outsider vote”. They knew Trump was going to run years ago and have groomed Cruz for this job and hidden his Bush years or at least don’t talk about it. Wikipedia doesn’t even have Heidi’s CFR connection listed, it keeps getting deleted.

Now, Trump is going to win by a landslide! Outright! Why? Because we know more about Cruz than you do! Be sure to check everything I said and you will see!!! We know everything about Trump too because we’re researchers. We are sick and tied of getting the short end of the stick! But the clincher is the GOP! They can all come together to fight Trump but can’t stop Obama from violating the law.

They claim we’re afraid we’ll lose the election if we attack a black man! They’re not afraid of losing the election, they’re willing to give it to Hillary and that is what’ll happen if they get to choose Ryan! People will stay home like they did with Romney/Ryan! Trump has said he’ll stop the endless senseless war that cost us 6 trillion in Iraq alone, that we know of. Trump said why can we build schools in Iraq over and over and they keep blowing them up but we can’t build one in Brooklyn?

Google “The Lion and The Sheep” and read the article at Antiwar. Trump didn’t quote Mussolini either. All of the Italian media ran the true story, but you didn’t see it here. You can still find it and red it using Google translate. But the Antiwar article quotes the many things Trump set when he entered the race. We heard him and the GOP heard him, even if you didn’t. Their war gravy train will end! That’s why they hate him and will let Hillary win if that is what it takes. They say we gave it out best shot and pulled the party together. Next time we’ll win it back and they might. No one will want to go through what we are now, again. That’s assuming their plan works this time, it won’t!

Trump has promised to revive the American dream where people come here to help us, not to kill us for destroying their country. Six trillion dollars would’ve done that, tell me I’m wrong? Tell me sealing the border, stopping the incentive to come here illegally and encouraging legal immigration will not make us stronger? Legal Hispanics don’t like illegals taking their jobs either and they say so, look at Arizona and the Cuban vote in Florida too.

Their kids can’t learn English because the teachers are baby sitting children who haven’t a clue what’s going on. The legal children were born here and maybe even their parents. They’re well on their way to being true Americans and are starting to fight for what is right, like they done it.

Mexico will pay for the wall. Hispanics in the US send 25 billion a year to Mexico and a small fee on that would pay for it. Small fees on legal immigration will generate large sums of cash to help pay for the wall too. There is a million ways to do it and Trump could do it in two terms.

How about employing legal Hispanics to build it? Come in legally and you’ll be guaranteed a good job with good benefits. Many will leave and come back just for that! We could pay the benefits with 6 trillion and the money we save that we now give to illegals in many forms. Yes, Mexico will pay for and build the wall.

I know, we can only spend that 6 trillion so many times but you get the point. Trump said let Russia knock out ISIS. Trump said make the Arab nations fight their own battles. Why are we there? Why are we paying for all of it? Stopping all for this stupid war everywhere will save us tons of money.

Yes, Trump has his flaws and one of them is making statements before he tells them what they need to know. A good attorney will tell you not to answer a question until you’ve said what you need to say. Were you there that night? Yes…ok, that’s all. You’re done. The way to answer that question is, were you there that night? No, not until 11:30pm! See, the jury gets to hear you were not there at 9PM when the crime happened!

Trump is learning and it’ll make a HUGE difference! Quickly! Go read the Reuters poll, Trump is approaching 50% again, since this bad week as they call it, he’s going up and Cruz is going down. Google “Washington Post-ABC News national poll March 3-6, 2016” and there, all the way down on page 9, it says Trump beats Hillary. Yep, sure does! They quote this poll all over, the part about who doesn’t like Trump, but not page 9!!! Keep reading, way down on the last page…Do you think the political system is broken? Yes! Who do you thin can fix it, Hilary or Trump? Once again, it’s Trump! Once again, they don’t quote that part.

You see, we’ve done the research and we share it extensively. When we tell a Cruz supporter that Cruz worked for Bush we get called liars, same with Heidi and the CFR deal. We don’t listen to the MSM except to counter their lies and clarify it with the truth. If you don’t know Mathews ask Trump about illegal abortion, we know who you’re listening to and we’ll tell you the facts.

This is where Trump’s strength comes from. Do you know he said the exact same thing 28 years ago that he says today? Watch the Oprah interview from 1988. We know all about Trump and the good things he’s done along with his mistakes. We all live and learn, don’t we? We’ve learned the GOP is a den of vipers just like the CFR!

Trump learned he’s going to be in bad shape if he doesn’t put a stop to the system he’s been a part of. He’s not going to try and get on the inside and continue it. He’s getting inside to destroy it because it will destroy him if he doesn’t! His children will not have the America he had (already don’t) and his grandchildren will not have an America at all!

You really need to listen to the man. Try the long speech he gave at Regent University for CBN in front of Pat Robertson. There are many more too. At a rally he’s interrupted by paid protesters who are trespassing by even being inside the event. He tries to speak about too much maybe, not being able to fill in enough blanks. But if you watch interviews where he’s given a fair chance with fair questions, he’s a totally different man. Watch the Regent speech and question and answer session. That’s why he’s going to win. We listen.

Want proof? Look at the debate ratings when Trump was on then look at the number of viewers when he’s not. He set’s records. Oh, and Trump isn’t afraid to debate Cruz. He did and won every single one of them. Pick your poll, you’ll see. If he does agree to a debate, those Bush years will be the topic of the entire show!

Not sure he’d touch Heidi because Cruz will cry foul, but he won’t need to. Cruz has zero answers for his Bush years and no way of explaining why he takes the protester’s side or Jeb’s side. I have to stop, but Cruz screamed and jumped up and down how he helped reign in the NSA and protect Americans for illegal spying. Then, right there on national TV, he almost got in trouble for exposing national security secrets by telling all about how the spying program is even more capable than it was!!! Yes, Cruz is establishment and he doesn’t really want to debate Trump. He knew he’d refuse!

Thank you for responding with rhetoric in support of Trump without disagreeing with a single thing I said.

Your post sounded like every Tweet I’ve ever read by Trump supporters mashed together.

However, unlike every pro-Trump blog into which I’ve tried to post a fact-filled response only to have my opinion deleted – I’m going to leave yours because your comments are irrelevant, or just wrong.

Need I remind you that you cited the National Enquirer as a credible source?

You throw around the name Bush as if it is synonymous with Satan. Have you forgotten about Hillary Clinton? Every poll in America says Donald can’t beat her. Period, end of story, nothing else matters.

Thanks for reading. I implore you to focus on beating the Democrats. they are coming for your guns, your liberty and your freedom.

Perfect. Interesting piece and comments are insightful.

So trump supporters believe he will do what? He hasn’t detailed any plans, has not given any indication of clarifying anything he does say and yet they believe he will get in the White House and?

He’s open to do anything he pleases, because none of his supporters demand detail on any of the issues he purportedly stands on. What are they thinking? I presume they really aren’t. They are simply in reaction mode vs. action mode, leaving them exhausted from the energy it takes allowing their emotions to be blown with whichever way the wind is blowing that day.

He never gave details so what have you held him to? Nothing. He gets a free pass to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, however he wants. Trusting a con man is dangerous.

This! Thank you. It’s well written, factual and so sad. I watch these good people and I can’t imagine being so desperate to drink poison and hope to be delivered into paradise. Trump has done more damage to our country in the few months he’s been running for the nomination that Obama did in 7 years. I’ve never ever imagined such hate, and the deepest source is from those professing to be evangelicals. My goal will be to pass onto my children principles, critical thinking, suspicion of anything too good to be true, to question authority so as to not be led astray by a wolf; to never expect anyone else to fix a problem, that we must protect freedoms for all regardless if we agree with others choices, to LOVE and see every human as loved and equal; and to see rule of law and pure free markets as the kindest boundries for society.

Very interesting, thought provoking article. I read carefully and dissected everything. I think I kept an open mind?

In a nutshell, it must be wonderful to know God’s Will for this nation as well as most of you do on here? I wish I did!? To be so sure that many citizens of this country are basically complete and total idiots since they do not want to vote for God’s Right Hand Man, Ted Cruz. I applaud you for knowing the exact right man for office, and for having the wisdom to know how wrong and ignorant other people are who don’t approve of “your” candidate.

I would delve deeply into my reasons for not wanting to vote Cruz, and for taking a chance on someone like Mr. Trump. (I ADMIT I am taking a chance) But it would make no difference with most of you. By the way, I am a Christian, and I do read my bible. I know what it says in all things. I understand about “knowing people by their fruits.” I also know that over and over again, throughout the bible, God CHOSE people of bad or questionable character to do his bidding. God nearly always used those who were far from perfect. Murderers, thieves and prostitutes to name a few. HE shaped them into the people He needed them to be. My gut feeling, after searching the scriptures, tells me to let God be God, and I pray that if Cruz is meant to be President, then let him be. And if Trump is elected, then I pray that he will be shaped and used by God to lead. THY WILL BE DONE.

I am keenly aware that the Bible also talks about the days when people will spout out scriptures, hold up the bible and “Praise God” but they will NOT be true Christians and in fact will be deceivers of Satan. I don’t know if that is Trump? God hasn’t spoken directly to me.

Last I looked, it appears that many more Americans are for Trump than are for Cruz, and many of them are Christians who attend church. In reading through all these comments on here, It’s interesting how many of you stand able, apparently with God’s Grace, to know that Trump supporters are incapable of making smart decisions?

If so, I’ll apologize to you in advance, because unless something happens to cause me “to see the light” I’m afraid I will be voting for Trump, rather than Mr. Cruz.

A well crafted and thoughtful response. I do not pretend to know God’s will. It may well take a Trump presidency to drive the people of America to their knees in repentance. Revival is what we need, not rebellion. However, intentionally voting for a man of obvious moral depravity, when given a very clear option, feels more like tempting God than trusting Him to me. Ted Cruz’ faith is genuine that much is clear. One day, when we stand before the White Throne of Judgement, are you prepared to defend the fact that you said “Give me Barabbas?”

There is something I call “the confidence heuristic”. The heuristic: estimate the ability or knowledge of a person by their apparent level of confidence.

This works pretty well when you’re dealing with normal people. Normal people, when ignorant or incompetent in an area, will lack confidence and will express their lack of confidence. E.g., if I’m ignorant about astrophysics, then I’ll be reluctant to make claims about it, anything I say about it will be prefaced with remarks like “I’m not sure but …”, etc.

But the heuristic fails for, well, con men. “Con man” is short for “confidence man”. (Aside: the actual origin of the word is from a scam in which the con artist would ask the mark “Do you have confidence in me to lend me your watch for a day?”) The term “confidence man” is appropriate because a large part of how cons work is through sheer force of bluster. If you say X loudly and repeatedly, never giving a hint of qualification or uncertainty, you can trigger some people to think that X just has to be true, and you must really know what you’re talking about.

A better and more subtle heuristic would be something like this: “If someone is extremely confident about a subject that is highly controversial, assume that the person is either a con artist or a dogmatic ideologue.” But not as many people use that heuristic.

The Full Gospel Conservative & The Liberal Lie

I ran across a blog post the other by a person claiming to be a Christian, and claiming not to be a Democrat.  It was anti-abortion, yet clearly anti-DOMA, (taking a shot at Kim Davis). It sounded very pro-amnesty, pro-welfare expansion, anti-war, and anti-gun rights among other things. Not a single scripture appeared in the post.

I would like to address some of the things I had concerns with here in my own little corner of the interwebs.

Heaven will have no unrepentant murderers, alcoholics, drug addicts, thieves, liars or  homosexuals, no national borders to illegally cross, no poor because Christ is our sustenance, no national boundaries to fight for, and no bad people who want to kill you. In this world where Satan is the ruler, we have all of those things, and more.

Scripture must be taken from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 to determine, as a whole, what it says. It must be studied in the original languages in which it was written (Greek, Hebrew, and Chaldean)

You cannot take bits and pieces here and there to make it say what you want it to say. In fact almost every manner of error filled doctrine can, and has, been created by those “enlightened” by a handful of scriptures.

    Example:

Jesus ate with publicans and sinners in Matthew 9:10 . This scripture is commonly used as an excuse not to break fellowship with people who would have a bad influence on a Christian trying to walk uprightly.

Seen coming out of a bar by their Bible study group one may shout “Oh, Hi guys! I was just in there telling them about Jesus!”.

They may think they are, and they may well be trying, but the whole of scripture says they are on a fool’s errand, especially as a young believer. There is a battle being waged in the spiritual realms for our souls, and we are more likely losing ground every moment we spend with non-believers, and definitely gaining ground when we are in fellowship, study, and worship. When we have completed our training the day may come when one may minister is such evil places, if God wills it, and he rarely does.

Conversely the scriptures warning you to stay away from non-believers as much as possible are myriad.

    2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

    1 John 2:15     Matthew 10:14   James 4:4  Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

    Psalm 1:1-6  Matthew 7:6  1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

    Colossians 3:5   John 15:18-19    1 Peter 2:15-1   Proverbs 13:20

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

    Galatians 5:13

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

    1 Corinthians 15:33

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

    Exodus 34:12

Take care, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you go, lest it become a snare in your midst.

Clearly hanging out at the bar is not a good place for a young believer to witness!

The previously mentioned blog-post seemed to be fueled by a similar “spirit of error” that I have encountered before.

“God is love” combined with “Judge not…” and both scriptures generally aren’t even used in their entirety.

The rational: If God is love, how can we not throw open our arms to everyone? Regardless of their sin, regardless of the danger they are to us both spiritually and physically, regardless of how that “union” with them will cause us to break our nations covenant relationship with God and love them like Jesus would have!?

The scriptures regarding what exactly “God’s love” is would fill 40 blog pages.

We will start with the most memorable one.

John 3:16 which reminds us that the wages of sin is death, but that God loved us so much that he sacrificed His own son so that the blood sacrifice for sin of the Old Testament could be done away with.

God is love, but he cannot, ever, be in the presence of sin. Jesus said, “Why hast thou forsaken me?” as he hung on the cross. In that moment , with the sins of all mankind on his shoulders, even His Father had to abandon him, until he died. They were reunited when he rose from the dead, glorified. We can have no fellowship with God until we have put to death the sinful nature of the old man, had our sins washed away by the shed blood of Jesus Christ and risen again, anew.

Is it now our “great commission” as believers in, and recipients of Christ’s sacrifice to lolly-coddle those living in sin? To “tolerate” it, to make excuses for it?

Heterosexual couples don’t even get married anymore. So what then is the LGBTQ communities interest in it? Only to slap God in the face. There are 7 scriptures in the Bible (both OT and NT) that speak directly against Homosexuality, many calling it an “abomination” , and dozens referring to sexual immorality as a whole. There are really none to support it, other than generic “love” verses. Generic “love” verses are also used to protect the “innocent” immigrant, to redistribute wealth to those who have less than you do (by government mandate). Generic “love” verses can be twisted to lead you to believe that a solider under command of The Nation he serves is a murderer, and that a man who protects his house with a firearm should be “turning the other cheek”.

Are we to love homosexuals? Absolutely!

Is it love to tell them they are wrong? Absolutely!

    Hebrews 12:6   Proverbs 3:1   Revelation 3:19

In fact if we do not tell them, then we commit sin, and will answer for it at the Judgement Seat of Christ.

Are we to allow immigration? Of course! We are a nation of immigrants. Legal ones. Those who run afoul of the law are criminals. Scripture is clear on obeying the law of the land.

Should we help the poor? Certainly! The bible says that true religion is exactly that! However, it is not the Governments job to steal from Peter to pay Paul, especially if Paul refuses to work. One of the churches main purposes is benevolence. Call your local church and ask if they even have a benevolence fund, most modern churches do not. Wealth re-distribution on the other hand is theft, and tyrannical government overreach. Sadly, the poor suffer because the church doesn’t do enough. Jesus said they (the poor) would always be with us.

Is war sin? Sometimes. Throughout History there have been many wars. The Old testament is full of them, many sanctioned by God. Many modern conflicts have not been, but  God is a big fan of toppling tyrants, especially ones who worship other gods, blasphemers, those involved in witchcraft, and those who break their promises to Him.

Soldiers, fighting under the command of the Godly country that they serve do a great service to the people who do not or cannot fight. John 15:13

Again the scriptures regarding a soldiers duty are many. I will leave (for the sake of length) some scriptures for the reader to look up for themselves.

“Guns! Wait you forgot about guns! ”

No, no I didn’t! To be honest the scriptures relating directly to the right to bear arms and home defense in an modern / urban world are a little harder to find, but they are there. If you understand the Bibles scope as a whole.

There are scriptures that say “Turn the other cheek” , “Turn your swords into plowshares” etc, etc. But there are also others that clearly support a persons right, in fact their duty to defend themselves.

    Luke 11:21

    When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe;

    Exodus 22:2-3

If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him. He shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

    Luke 22:36

He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.

But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

    Proverbs 25:26

Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.

    Psalm 144:1

    Of David. Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

    Nehemiah 4:17-18

Who were building on the wall. Those who carried burdens were loaded in such a way that each labored on the work with one hand and held his weapon with the other. And each of the builders had his sword strapped at his side while he built. The man who sounded the trumpet was beside me.

    Romans 13:4

For he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.

Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there is a time for everything.

1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

    2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
    a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
    3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
    a time to break down, and a time to build up;
    4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
    a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
    5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
    a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
    6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
    a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
    7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
    a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
    8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

In Luke 22:36  Jesus tells his disciples to sell their cloak and buy a sword.

In Luke 22:51 Jesus restores an ear lopped off by an over zealous disciple, and tells him to put his sword away.

Why? It isn’t always the time to fight. The time to heal, and the time to make ready to fight were only moments apart. We need to know what season we are in, and recognize the seasons to come.

How do we know? How can we tell?

That brings me to the final part of the subject at hand.

We are instructed to know who ,and what we are dealing with. We will know them by their fruits, etc, etc. To bear the fruit of the Spirit ourselves. To discern the spirits of those we come in contact with, and indeed test them!  Yet, the moniker of many is “Don’t judge me”.

This error is based on the following passage of Matthew

    Matthew 7:1-5

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye”

There are one hundred and six words in this passage, yet the two words most used are the first two. Judge not.

What is says is…If you are gonna dish it out, you better be ready to take it.

Inspect yourself first, then you can see clearly to help others.

It is important to remember that there is an entire book in the bible dedicated to servants of God whose sole purpose was to Judge, oddly disguised as “The Book of Judges”.

    Proverbs 31:9

Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

    Leviticus 19:15

“You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

    1 Corinthians 2:15

The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.

    Galatians 6:1

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

    1 Corinthians 5:12-13

For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

    Timothy 2:24-26

And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

    1 Corinthians 6:1-6

When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, …

In closing, if our only call to arms as child of God is “I don’t ever judge anyone and I just LOOOOVE everybody to pieces!” We are marching into war vs Lucifer armed only with a plastic fork. Our times are perilous, and perilous times call great men and women to action.

By now some of you are saying.. “Wait! We get it. Read and study the Bible as a whole, but what does any of this have to do with Conservatism!?

I’m coming to that now.  Let me be clear. I am making no excuses for crooked politicians, the preceding scriptures regarding judgement should be applied to each and everyone of them, on both sides of the aisle. Having done so my belief is you will find that only one of our current two parties can be considered the party of the Christian.

I will close with an excerpt from the Mayflower compact.

The “Mayflower Compact” was signed on 11 November 1620 onboard the Mayflower shortly after she came to anchor off Provincetown Harbor.  The Pilgrims had obtained permission from English authorities to settle in Virginia, whose northern border at the time extended up to what is now New York. Predating the Declaration of Independence by 156 years! The Mayflower compact is written proof that the very existence of the United States of America is predicated by a promise made to God almost 400 years ago.

Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one of another, covenant and combine our selves together into a civil bodypolitic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape Cod, the eleventh of November [New Style, November 21], in the year of the reign of our sovereign lord, King James, of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Dom. 1620.

We cannot and will not exist as nation if we break this promise. God is not mocked, and vengeance is His, He will repay. So, as we make excuses for the sin of our neighbor. Refuse to mention anything that might offend said neighbor, and sing kumbaya around the campfire, remember that we are slowly tearing up our contract with Almighty God, one tolerated sin, and one missed opportunity for repentance at a time. The heart of the Full Gospel Conservative is one of redemption, growth, peace, and happiness, through Jesus Christ, and hard work. The Liberal Lie is that the Government can and should give you all of those things, God is unimportant, and nothing is required of you.  If a “Christians” message looks and smells like the Liberal Lie, then it probably is.

    Living slowly and finding peace.

I have always loved the following modern day parable, in fact I’ve quoted it in job interviews. The author of this modern story is unknown, but it appears on almost every business, life coach, or business consultants blog on the internet at some point in time. Here’s a tidbit that most of them don’t mention.

King Solomon was the richest and wisest King who ever lived. He had unlimited resources and withheld no pleasure from himself (sinful or otherwise). He learned this lesson long ago.

Ecclesiastes 8:15   So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.

    fishing

An executive from America was standing at the pier of a Mexican village, taking a much needed vacation. It was his first in more than 10 years. He noticed a small boat with just one fisherman had docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The executive complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.

The Mexican replied, “only a little while.”

The executive then asked, “why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more fish?”

The Mexican replied,  “I  have enough to support my family for a little while.”

The executive then asked, “but what do you do with the rest of your time?”

The Mexican fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, and stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life.”

The executive scoffed, “I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise.”

The Mexican fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?”

To which the American replied, “15-20 years.”

    “But what then?”

The American laughed and said that’s the best part. “When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions.”

    “Millions.. Then what?”

The American said, “Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”

Living slowly, and requiring less is far preferable to always trying to keep up with the Jones’. I’ve tried both, although never from a standpoint of immense wealth. Life is hard. Relax, pray, downsize if you must, and be content. Godliness with contentment is great gain.

    Who is “the enemy” ?

    DNC

Recently a Democratic Presidential nominees gaffe referred to the Republicans as “the enemy”. The GOP establishment immediately took umbrage that she would call them, or in fact, any American “the enemy”. The old guard have no enemies in politics it would seem. They have “friends” on the left. They have “colleagues” on the left. What they were in fact saying is that politics is a job, and a game to be played with the lives and freedom of 350 million people, not a duty, nor a battle. The GOP establishment reminded Americans in that moment that their default reaction is “go along to get along”. They should have responded in agreement  that the Left is the “enemy” of freedom and liberty. It is my belief that the potential DNC Candidate gave the more honest assessment of the DNC’s feelings about Conservatives in America. It was a tactical error on her part, but the sentiment is shared by the true zealots of the DNC, and is reciprocated by the true defenders of Conservatism. Those patriots of the GOP are still marginalized, but they are growing in power, led largely by Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Mike Lee and others.

We are the enemy of the liberal progressives (now admitted socialists) and their twisted vision for Barrack Obama’s stated “fundamental transformation” of America. Let us not forget that to “transform” ie; remake America you must first unmake America. Anyone who would attempt to unmake America is an enemy of the people, and an enemy of God. Any such agenda is led in the spiritual realms by the adversary of our souls, Lucifer. (1 Peter 5:8)

    Ephesians 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

    enemies

The United States of America is one of only two nations whose very existence is based on a Covenant with God, not Allah, not Buddha, not Krishna, but Jehovah God, Yahweh, Elohim, Israel being the other. If we, as a society, allow ourselves to be dragged further and further to the left, further away from Biblical truth, further away from Righteousness, we will have become complicit in breaking a promise to God, and our destruction will be certain. Is the preservation of our Covenant promise to God worth fighting for? Are those who would break that promise influenced by the enemy of our souls? How do we then fight that battle?

    1 Peter 5:6-10 (ESV)

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

    2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (ESV)

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.

We must check our own thoughts against scripture. We must recognize who we are dealing with based on the fruit they bear. (Matthew 7:16) We must pray, read, and study. (1 Timothy 4:13) We must share, tweet, and engage. (Matthew 20:19-20)

83% of all Americans claim to be Christians, yet we are being steamrolled politically by a very small percentage of Godless, yet very vocal, liberal and humanistic minority.

It is time for the slumbering giant to wake up and push back. Push back in prayer. Push back by running for office. Push back by teaching your children the Bible and the Constitution. Push back by using your social media accounts for something other than watching cat videos. I will be here, doing the same!

I wholly reject the confusing of the Right with Righteous. Conservative politics has little to do with God, and in some instances I would say contradicts Godliness, such as the indifference for the plight of the poor, or creating a substrate for material greed and worshiping it. It is a false equation which should embarrass anyone making that point.

Further though I agree that politics is not a game and its implications are life changing for all citizens and should therefore be taken seriously, it is clear that this does not mean physically attacking an ideological opponent. When Clinton mentioned Republicans as one of her enemies it was clearly tongue in cheek. Either way, it was referring to the fact that Republicans have made her personally into a target of political attack for years, not the other way around. She sees Republicans as her enemies, not herself as the enemy of Republicans. Another misrepresentation in your self righteous essay.

Though Centuries we have developed the civility to fight ideologically and politically without treating each other as real enemies, ones that you would beat up or shoot at. It appears that you are taking the diametrically opposing path, using a miss-quote, humorlessly processed, to justify expression of hate in the political sphere. That is regression, not advancement.

One more thing, it is misleading to say Democrats are now Socialists. There is a clear distinction between Socialist and Democratic Socialist, which is what Bernie Sanders ascribes to.

Socialism is autocratic and based on “reforming” the system into a dictatorship that replaces private businesses and industries with state institutions, also referred to as Centralized Planning. Democratic Socialism is the approach Democratic countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Australia, and Israel have taken at different times. It does provide safety nets for the middle-class and the poor, and seeks to balance out inherent injustices caused by deregulated industries. Muddying the difference is ideologically insincere if not intentionally malicious and deceptive. It’s a shame!

        Thank you for your comments!

However, I have but one question for you. Do you believe that Satan exists and is the ruler of this world, as scripture says?

If you do, then you also believe he has an agenda to separate God’s creation from having fellowship with their Creator. Bearing this in mind we must then conclude that we are being tempted everyday to turn our backs on God and proceed down a path of distraction, sin, and eventually eternal separation.

While I agree that as a general rule “politicians are politicians” and most are in fact liars, the GOP’s current stances are most accurately in line with scripture. Capitalism is , in the long run, the most effective way of helping the poor and middle class. On the surface grabbing up that monthly check from a Socialist (or Democratic Socialist) Government seems more effective, but in the long run is unsustainable, leading to Communism, Government control of virtually everything, and as we saw with the USSR, and others, collapse.

Your comments speak of righteousness, as if you have at least some knowledge of the concept, but your counterpoints are entirely secular, and humanistic in nature. There are some true biblical conservatives currently running for the GOP nomination and fighting to pull America back towards our roots, rather than continue our devolution into a totally godless, atheistic society. The scariest thing I see amongst those who would share your view is that they see no slippery slopes, and believe that their own opinion of Gods written Word trumps His intended guidance. The whole of scripture, in it’s original languages, supports Capitalism, Religious Freedom, Sanctity of Life, Sanctity of Marriage, Gun Rights, Support of Israel, and tells us that Isaac and Ishmael (fathers of Judaism and Islam) are eternal enemies, that the Nation of Israel are Gods Chosen People, and those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed. All of these stances are , at least in word, are the stances of Conservatism. The condition of the hearts of the men in question are unknown to me, but scripture tells us we will know them by their fruit.

We are indeed engaged in spiritual warfare, not a physical one, and there is no grey area.

Who do our guns protect us from?

Recently I heard a very well known Conservative talk show host saying that the Second Amendment was never intended to protect us from The Government. It’s odd that nearly every quote from the framers I have found seems to state that, in addition to protecting your home, family, and property from thieves, murderers, and foreign invaders, that is it’s exact purpose.

    Thomas Jefferson:

“[W]hat country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.”

    Noah Webster:

“Another source of power in government is a military force. But this, to be efficient, must be superior to any force that exists among the people, or which they can command: for otherwise this force would be annihilated, on the first exercise of acts of oppression. Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive. In spite of all the nominal powers, vested in Congress by the constitution, were the system once adopted in its fullest latitude, still the actual exercise of them would be frequently interrupted by popular jealousy. I am bold to say, that ten just and constitutional measures would be resisted, where one unjust or oppressive law would be enforced. The powers vested in Congress are little more than nominal; nay real power cannot be vested in them, nor in any body, but in the people. The source of power is in the people of this country, and cannot for ages, and probably never will, be removed.”

Granted, in agreement with part of his stated contention, the Second Amendment was never intended as a right to open fire on your local police force, until they begin carrying out the orders of a tyrannical central government anyway. As a nation we are quite a ways off from that, but the slope seems to get more slippery every year that goes by.

    Tenche Coxe:

“The militia of these free commonwealths, entitled and accustomed to their arms, when compared with any possible army, must be tremendous and irresistible. Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American … the unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.”

    George Mason :

“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”

    George Mason:

“That a well-regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural and safe defense of a free state; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that, in all cases, the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.”

I realize that the thought of another civil war, or the necessity of the American people to fight off yet another tyrannical oppressor is, as of yet, a very distant, dark prospect. It is not, however, as far fetched as it may seem, and it is a gross misuse of a microphone to tell millions of people otherwise.

If a Wyoming Ranchers standoff with a Government agency turns violent, if shots are fired at a New Black Panthers demonstration, if a Radicalized Muslim “refugee” (200,000 of their way!) infiltrates a Louis Farrakhan rally, we could find ourselves under national martial law (and the thumb of a Federal Police Force) fast enough to make your head spin. Some have said that Barrack Obama’s divisive handling of Ferguson, Baltimore, and countless other racial issues have be politicized to exactly that end. Nationwide chaos would quickly lead to a Federal Police Force, some even speculate that the UN already has designs on making worldwide cities “safe” with an occupying Global Police Force.

It is a reality that we may one day have to defend ourselves from those we have elected to represent us if the Liberal agenda is allowed to progress. The framers foresaw such possibilities and worded The Constitution to guard our right to do so if, God forbid, it were to ever become necessary.

Pray, people of God, that revival comes to our land before this scenario can play out in our streets.
